Top Step Development is proud to promote cycling at a very young age by developing a program that will empower kids ages 5 and up to learn the basic skills required to ride on mountain biking trails. With a introduction to racing on our team and advanced skills when ready.

Practice schedule Tuesday and Thursday 4:30-5:30 pm

Must-have Equipment:

Mountain bike with gears and hand brakes. Tires need to be knobby for dirt trail traction.

Proper fitting helmet. Helmets must stay snug during riding.

gloves. Hands tend to get sweaty and full-finger gloves protect against slipping on the grips and any chances of falling and scraping hands and fingers.

glasses for eye protection. The trail are full of bugs, dust and low-hanging branches that may hit the face during riding hence eye protection is mandatory.

Cycling Water bottle and water bottle cage or hydration backpack.

Pedaling/shifting efficiently
Controlling speed and braking safely
Cornering confidently

Top Step Cycling Academy
Cycling program age 13-U23

The Academy we teach all aspects of the sport of cycling, MT Bike, Gravel, Road, and Track.
Open to all abilities from seasoned racers to just starting to train. (our coaches can teach all levels)
Athletes will be placed in groups based on abilities.
Program includes core and strength training (15-18) strength training in the gym.
Must have a MT bike for Markham park training, and road bike for our road programs, (limited bike rental available) We have track bikes for the velodrome.
We cover basic Mt Bike skills to elite racing. Introduction to track cycling to elite track racing opportunities. Road skill development opportunities, introduction to racing and being on the elite travel team selection.
Elite athletes on a national training program will train on the weekends and travel to races. (separate schedule)
The Academy provides a collegiate path way and scholarship opportunities for dedicated athletes.

Track certification.
Weight training instruction.

NICA MT Bike Team
High school and Middle school mountain bike program. The program team fee is $75 billed monthly from Dec 1st - May 1st. Ask about sibling discounts if you have more than one child.

Check over their own bikes for safety and simple maintenance, such as tire pressure setup and chain lubrication.

Unlimited coach communication via phone, text, and email. Same-day coach responsiveness. Fit adjustments as needed. 15% off nutrition and equipment needs. Paid premium training peaks account. Total Strength and conditioning for cycling program with one-on-one instruction.

Silver unlimited Coaching
Silver: 275.00/m Athlete Specific Training. Full Coaching Plan. 6-day per week Training Peaks Plan. Initial FTP. An ongoing relationship between client and coach in which detailed daily programs are written for the client, using Training Peaks software. Communication may include phone conversations and emails, and face-to-face meetings and or training sessions from time to time. Our coaches will have you ready for your next goal or event. Custom Training plan. 1x/week training plan adjustments after posting to training peaks, two consults every four weeks, bike fit adjustments 2x a year for local athletes. Total Strength and conditioning for the cycling program are included with one-on-one instruction at an additional cost.

Bronze Coaching
Athlete Specific Training. Complete Coaching Plan. 6 days per week Training Peaks Plan. Initial FTP. An ongoing relationship between client and coach in which detailed daily programs are written for the client, using Training Peaks software. Communication may include phone conversations and emails, and face-to-face meetings and or training sessions from time to time. Our coaches will have you ready for your next goal or event. No training plan adjustments after posting, one coach consult per month. Total Strength and conditioning for cycling program. One-on-one skills/strength instruction at an additional cost.

JUNIORS
JUNIOR - 6 SESSIONS PER WEEK
For ages 14-18. Junior Cyclist and U-23 athletes that are full time students Training 6 days a week with the Top Step Academy team. Plan includes Training Peaks Plan, FTP, analysis, studio sessions and strength training. Local athletes: reduced AMP Gym Member Rate. Heart Rate monitor and cadence sensor mandatory, Power meter recommended.

Rental of road, track, MT bike.
Must sign bike agreement and return bike when directed in the same condition as rented.

Additional charges may be charged for parts that may be damaged or need replacing after rental. For example bar tape, if crashed shifter hoods, seat, tires.
