SYD: Impulse & Emotions Intensive with John Orcsik

IMPULSE & EMOTIONS

The core or centre of any action that will give rise to an individual and unique acting performance.

IMPULSE: urge, instinct, drive, compulsion, need, whim or caprice. In other words: A strong and unreflective urge or desire to act

EMOTION: A feeling of: fear, anger, distress, sadness, joy, lust, disgust, hate, love, envy, greed, shame, guilt. A complex experience of consciousness, bodily sensation and behaviour that reflects the personal significance of a thing, an event or a state of affairs.

IMPETUS: inspiration, stimulation, incitement, motivation.

Something that causes something to happen or happen more quickly.

An impulse can be emotional driven or the sudden presence of an emotion can cause an impulsive reaction.

Actors MUST BEGIN HERE and not in your head with thought out objective no matter what it’s based on.

Once you are in your head you’ve missed the opportunity. Impulsive inspiration is lost.

GET IT BACK. It’s where real great acting starts.
