Try out our strength training gym in Wavertree with a day pass and gym induction. Please note that this is for people who don't want coaching and would prefer to train independently.
After purchasing your day pass, please book in for your induction so we can guarantee someone is available.
The induction is a short health and safety briefing and a quick demonstration of how to use our strength training equipment.
After that, you’re free to use the gym as you like.
💥 Important: This option is for people who already know how to train themselves confidently.
We’re a strength-focused gym, not a commercial setup with rows of machines and cardio kit. If you’re unsure what to do with your barbell lifts, need help with technique, or want proper direction, you’ll want to book a PT taster session instead.
After your day pass and induction, you can sign up for a gym membership:
– £39/month: includes self-access (6–10 pm weekdays, 8–8 weekends)
Our taster sessions are for people interested in strength-specific personal training or anyone who needs extra support getting started in a barbell-focused strength training gym.
This is an in-depth session designed to give you specific guidance based on your goals, experience, and needs.
It’s ideal if:
You’re interested in starting PT with us to improve your lifts
You’re new to strength training or specialist strength training equipment
You want extra support to feel confident and safe when training
In your session, we’ll cover:
How to use our strength training equipment correctly
Key lifting cues and safe setup for all suitable exercise variations
What to focus on in your next visit so you can hit the ground running
📅 Once purchased, book your taster session through the Appointments section. Sessions must be booked in advance.
🕒 PT sessions are available 12–8pm Monday–Friday and 10am–1pm Saturdays (subject to availability).
Fast Track to Free Weights is the first phase of coaching at Essential Strength.
Through three dedicated 1:1 coaching sessions, we'll get to know your goals, assess your current ability, refine your technique, and build a strength training plan tailored to you.
By the end of Fast Track to Free Weights, you'll have a clear direction for your training and be ready to continue with either ongoing 1:1 coaching or Small Group Coaching.
You’ll get:
– 3 × 60-minute 1:1 Personal Training sessions at a discounted rate
– A strength training program tailored to your level and delivered to you via a training app
– Complementary gym access to train independently between sessions (over the 3 weeks)
💥 Fast Track to Free Weights is where we build your personalised training plan and set you up for long-term progress. After purchasing, book your first session with Kim or Adam, and we’ll go from there.
📅 Train at off-peak times for a quieter gym experience or Mon-Thurs evenings and Saturday mornings for more of a community feel (especially if you're interested in doing group coaching going forward)

💡 Phase 2: What happens after?
Once you’ve completed Fast Track to Free Weights:
– Join our Small Group PT team (from £22.50/week)
– Continue with 1:1 Coaching (around £38/week)
