Aerial Yoga, 3:1 Shared Private, 3-week Course

Join us for a 3-week aerial yoga course, it's more like personal training than a class, you get your own hammock to work from in a small group of up to 3 people maximum.

Each session will take you through a series of asana using a suspended sling (hammock) to support and challenge the body. You'll start by practising on the floor with the assistance of the hammock and gradually progressing to exercises that require full body suspension to add an extra stretch and fun to your practice.

What happens in an Aerial Yoga/Pilates Class?
Get ready to have some fun and a serious workout, you’ll be taken through a series of exercises using a suspended sling (hammock) to support and challenge the body. You’ll start by using the floor along with the hammock and progress onto exercises that require full body suspension.

The first time you try aerial yoga/pilates and you begin to transfer your weight into the hammock, your body begins a dialogue with the brain. Is it supposed to feel like that? Am I in pain? Am I receiving a massage? The brain is confused as to which muscles to relax and which to engage, over time, normally 3 sessions, your nervous system gets used to the feeling, and what once felt like an intense sensation, now feels relaxing.

Aerial rules:
• Wear clothing that covers your armpits to avoid uncomfortable chafing
• Remove all jewellery/watches prior to class (we’ll provide a bowl for your valuables)
• Please wear no zippers or exposed metal
• It’s more comfortable to wear fitted clothing, you don’t want anything to get in the way or rise above your head when upside down
• Tie long hair up (no metal hair clips or grips)
• Refrain from applying lotions/oils/moisturisers/perfumes before the session
• Ensure you don’t have any jagged nails that may rip the fabric
• Please arrive at least 10 minutes before class to get your hammock set up to the correct height
• Photographs are permitted at the end of the session but not during
• It is recommended not to eat a large meal 2 hours before a class

Do I need to bring anything with me?
All equipment is provided and refreshments are available (still and sparkling water). If you are booked onto the Aerial Day Workshop, you may want to bring a light snack to eat in-between sessions during the 30-minute break.

It's a lot of fun!! If you have any questions about the course or your suitability for it please contact Vicky at the studio.
