Teen Slow Fashion Sewing Camp
Your teen is ready to dive into slow fashion and either make, upcycle, mend or alter their clothing. Here's a space for it!
These skills will last a lifetime. This self directed camp is an opportunity for your teen to think about how their clothing represents their point of view and values in the world. Clothing can be a great way to explore more complex issues concerning the environment or society as it intersects with many different production chains. Perhaps your teen just wants to make their clothes more about them instead of buying the exact same thing as their peers.
Teens will be allowed to create their own process for the week with support from myself and a summer student. We'll talk about their goals and set up a plan to achieve them. Whether it's making clothing from scratch, trying out new pattern skills, this camp has something to offer every teen as they investigate their relationship with their clothing.
This is an all day camp from 10-3pm. We'll be taking a lunch break from 12:00-12:45 everyday. Please make sure they have a lunch, snacks and a water bottle. If they need to use a studio sewing machine, just let me know!
All fabrics and notions must be provided by the participants for specific projects, but if they would just like to let their creativity take the lead, there are fabrics, patterns, buttons, zippers and more here for their use.
Note that you can register even after the camp begins if you'd like and you can also register for just one or two days if that's what fits your schedule.
Minimum 4 students: Maximum 6 students.
