Kids Camp Ages 7-9 - Checkerboard Quilting

Quilting Sewing Camp is back this year! Last year we made very fun checkerboard or other 8-bit looking images with our quilts.

This year kids will be making their own version of an image they love and quilt blocks to create a play sized blanket for themselves. All the fabrics are provided (unless your kiddo wants a specific colour scheme, in which case please get in touch and I'll let you know how much to bring). We have scrap packs donated by local sewists that will be the basis of our sewing.

Kids will be responsible for choosing colours, following the sewing guide and then machine sewing their quilt top. Afterwards we'll add back it with flannel for a clean finish.

We'll be working on cutting, embellishing, and customizing a lap sized play quilt & pillow and then some smaller projects sprinkled in for variety and fun.

Days will be structured as follows:

9:00am - welcome and start the project (I'll meet you downstairs in the lobby at 9am)

10:45am - break

11:00am - continue project

11:45am - finish and pack up

12:00pm - pick up

Please make sure they bring a water bottle and a snack if they would like one. If it's a nice day we may take a bit of outside time if we need to burn off some energy. Definitely kids should be expecting to sit most of the camp as we'll be at sewing machines. A summer student will be assisting all week.

All fabric and notions are included. Minimum 4 students: maximum 6 students.
