Kids Camp Ages 10-12 - Quilting

Quilting Sewing Camp is back this year! Last year we made very fun checkerboard or other 8-bit looking images with our quilts.

This year kids will be making log cabin quilt blocks to create a play sized blanket for themselves. All the fabrics are provided (unless your kiddo wants a specific colour scheme, in which case please send your child with a half meter each of three colours of quilting cotton). We have scrap packs donated by local sewists that will be the basis of our sewing.

Kids will be responsible for choosing colours, following the sewing guide and then machine sewing their quilt top. Afterwards we'll add the batting and then back it with quilting cotton.

We'll be working on embellishing, customizing and sewing a lap sized play quilt (& pillow if time allows) with some smaller projects sprinkled in for variety and fun.

Days will be structured as follows:

1:00pm - welcome and start the project (I'll meet you downstairs in the lobby at 1pm)

2:45pm - break

3:00pm - continue project

3:45pm - finish and pack up

4:00pm - pick up

Please make sure they bring a water bottle and a snack if they would like one. If it's a nice day we may take a bit of outside time if we need to burn off some energy. Kids should be expecting to sit most of the camp as we'll be at sewing machines. We'll have a summer student assisting.

Fabric and notions are included. Minimum 4 students: maximum 6 students.
