Basic Level 1-4 (Ages 6-12) | 9 weeks | FALL 2026 | 6:30 - 7:20pm

Basic Skills (ages 6-12) teaches the FUNdamentals of ice skating and provides the best foundation for figure skating, hockey and speed skating. This class will be divided into different groups with different instructors based on the student skill level. These classes focus on Basic Levels 1-4. The levels are progressive and great for new skaters and skaters with some skating experience. The levels progress from introducing falling down / standing up, forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers and turns. Level 1 includes learning how to fall down and stand up, skate forwards, and a forward two foot glide. The levels progress to Level 4 which includes learning inside and outside edges on a circle, forwards crossovers, and backwards one foot glides.

***IF YOUR CHILD HAS SKATING EXPERIENCE, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR CHILD'S LAST PASSED LEVEL IN YOUR REGISTRATION! ***

ALL SKATERS MUST HAVE A HELMET. A HECC certified hockey helmet with a full face cage is highly recommended.

LEARN TO SKATE MEMBERSHIP:

Skaters must have an active Learn to Skate USA membership account before the first day of class. Register at https://www.learntoskateusa.com/registration . If you are unsure of how to register, enter 000 as your membership number in the registration and please contact us at info@fairfieldskatingclub.com.

LESSON FORMAT: 5 minute free skate, 40 minute lesson time, 5 minute free skate
