Straps for Mixed Levels | Jan - March 2206
This is a 9 week course in Straps for Mixed Levels
January 23rd - March 27th, 2025
No class the week of February 16th - 22nd
Aerial Straps is a dynamic aerial apparatus closely related to the Olympic Rings whereby you perform movements in the air using two belt-like 'ropes' (straps). Originally developed by Chinese athletes.
This mixed-level class welcomes everyone from complete beginners to advanced aerialists. Unlike other aerial apparatus that require a climbing technique, with straps you will learn how to hang by your arms and add spins and other dynamics, such as swings, beats and drops. Over time, you will develop a combination of strength, flexibility and mobility, which will allow you to create beautiful movements and figures.
Each session includes a thorough warm-up, step-by-step technique instruction, and supportive conditioning exercises. You'll learn the fundamentals of wraps, rolls, and dynamic movements while gradually building upper body and core strength. The class focuses on safe, progressive skill-building that makes straps accessible to everyone.
What to expect in your AcroYoga Class:
A Typical Straps Class Experience:
Warm-up and conditioning (15/20 minutes): Gentle joint mobility, dynamic stretching, and preparation exercises for your shoulders, wrists, and core. Supportive exercises to build the strength needed for straps work, adapted for all fitness levels
Technique instruction (40 minutes): Learn new skills step-by-step, starting with comfortable hangs and progressing at your own pace through rolls, beats, and movements
Cool-down (5-10 minutes): Relaxing stretches focused on shoulders, back, and arms
The mixed-level format means you'll learn alongside others at different stages, creating an encouraging atmosphere where everyone progresses comfortably. Instructors provide modifications and progressions so everyone feels successful.
