Contemporary Acrobatics for Improvers with Nat Whittingham
October 14th - 18th
A course or drop in class for Dancers, Acrobats, and Movers exploring Nats eclectic vocabulary of acrobatic figures, and improvisational movement qualities.
Specific focusses will be on low-level tricks that favour coordination over strength; efficiency in movement, counterbalancing, and weight transfer.
All of this will be wrapped up in a high-energy workshop that leaves you with a smile on your face and a number of new movements, approaches, and knowledge about acrobatics.
Are there any pre-requirements to attend?
Open to everyone, beginner, improvers and advanced that meet these criteria:
* Strong Cartwheel
* Strong kick-up to handstand with small balance
* Forward roll
* Some experience in a complimentary movement practice/sport.
Contemporary acrobatics is the practice of combining acrobatic figures and techniques from various sources: Gymnastics, Capoeira, Contemporary dance, Breaking – And combining them in a way that is suitable for use on the stage – Ie on hard floor and safely.

About Nat Whittingham
Nat Whittingham is a Circus Artist, Dancer, and Teacher from Cambridgeshire.
Originally trained as a Trampolinist before later studying acrobatics at L’ESAC in Brussels, he is a versatile mover with a broad vocabulary to draw from, fusing gymnastic technique, contemporary floorwork and myriad influences from the performing world into his practice.
His career started at the age of 18, touring internationally with Nofit State, before working extensively in the UK and Europe, with companies such as Ockhams Razor, Pirates of the Carabina, Superfan, Lords of Strut, Highly Sprung, and Cie Bivouac; as well as R&D work with Punchdrunk, Cie Hors Surface, Tit for Tat Circus, and Upswing Aerial.
He teaches workshops internationally under the name Moving Through Acrobatics, as well as being a guest tutor for Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Circomedia, 2Faced dance and Fourth Monkey Theatre School.
