Handbalancing for Beginners | Taster Class

This is a taster class for Handbalancing for Beginners 
September 10th | 6.30PM - 7.45PM
 

Hand balancing or Handstands is the art and practice of holding an inverted body shape using the hands and arms as the main support. There can be many variations to the hand stand position such as tuck, pike, and straddle legs positions, including the more advanced one arm hold. Handstands can be performed from the floor, canes, blocks or more creative sub structures. Handstands can be trained individually or as part of a partner or group acrobatic team.

What to Expect in your Beginner Handbalancing Class

In this class we will always start with a warm up and some flexibility/conditioning. We will look at low arm balances, like crocs and crows, to get a feel for putting our weight into our hands in a safe way. Over the course of the term we will go through low arm positions, head stands and variations of shapes and entries, ways to use the wall for our practice, kicking to handstand, falling safely, finding shape and balance.
 

For Who

The class is aimed to help people conquer the fear of being upside, building strength and control in the body, and finding balance in a variety of inversions to keep it interesting and fun.

Are there any pre-requirements to attend?

Beginner friendly. No experience required but can accommodate people with experience also.

What Should You Bring?

Bring some water, wear comfy pants you can move in. A well fitted t-shirt if you're conscious of your t-shirt lifting when you're upsidedown.
