Come prepared to move, explore, challenge yourself, slow down, and reconnect with your body.

Join Wil Brown and Sarah Taylor at Sequoia Movement for an immersive day long workshop exploring the relationship between strength, resilience, movement, recovery, and self-care.

The day will be built around three interconnected themes: Bulletproof the Body, Organic Strength, and Self Care & Softening.

Together, these practices invite participants to explore how we can develop a body that is strong and resilient, while also remaining adaptable, responsive, and at ease with the change of season

.

Through a combination of movement exploration, practical exercises, guided practice, and embodied awareness, Wil and Sarah will offer tools that participants can take into their own movement practice and everyday life.

Workshop 1. Bulletproof Body

We begin by exploring the foundations of a resilient and capable body.

This session focuses on developing physical robustness through movement patterns that challenge stability, mobility, coordination, and strength. Participants will explore ways of preparing the body to meet physical demands with greater confidence and adaptability.

Rather than simply creating more tension or rigidity, the emphasis is on developing capacity, resilience, and responsiveness — building a body that can move well under changing conditions.

We will explore:

  • Joint preparation and movement readiness

  • Stability and control

  • Strength through varied ranges of motion

  • Resilience and physical capacity

  • Developing confidence in movement

Workshop 2. Organic Strength

From resilience, we move towards a more exploratory understanding of strength.

Organic Strength is an invitation to discover strength through natural, responsive movement rather than relying solely on fixed exercises or predetermined patterns. Participants will explore how strength can emerge through connection, momentum, leverage, coordination, and the body's relationship with space.

This section encourages curiosity and play, allowing participants to discover different ways of generating and expressing force.

We will explore:

  • Whole-body strength and connection

  • Grounding and force production

  • Spirals, transitions, and locomotion

  • Working with momentum and leverage

  • Improvisation and movement exploration

  • Finding strength without unnecessary tension

Workshop 3. Self Care & Softening

The final theme brings attention to the other side of physical practice: recovery, regulation, awareness, and softness.

This session creates space to slow down and explore practices that support relaxation and a greater sense of ease within the body.

Participants will be guided through slower, more restorative movement and self-care practices, developing an awareness of where they may be holding unnecessary effort and how they can create more space and softness.

We will explore:

  • Down-regulation and relaxation

  • Breath and awareness

  • Releasing unnecessary muscular tension

  • Gentle mobility and restorative movement

  • Self-touch and self-care practices

  • Creating balance between effort and ease

Bringing It All Together

Throughout the five hours, the three themes will continually inform one another.

Bulletproof Body develops resilience.
Organic Strength develops adaptability and physical expression.
Self Care & Softening develops awareness, recovery, and ease.

Together they create a broader approach to movement — one that recognises that a healthy, capable body needs both strength and softness, effort and recovery, structure and exploration.

The workshop is designed to be accessible to a range of movement backgrounds, with participants encouraged to work at an appropriate level for their own body and experience.
