Junior Gym Skills

This is a group coaching introductory course, delivered over three consecutive days by Strength Coaches, Sam Young and Neil Thompson at Strong For Life - a private strength training facility in Hull.

This session is suitable for 11-17 year olds and will cover how to perform the basic gym exercises in a safe and progressive way. 

There are a currently a lack of options locally when it comes to allowing under 18s access to quality strength training coaching.


Sam is the owner of Strong For Life and, British Weightlifting licensed coach, qualified Personal Trainer and has coached under 18s in a variety of sports since 2008, including Youth Summer Soccer Camps in the US. He has worked full time as a Strength Coach within various gyms since 2010, which includes delivering multiple strength and weightlifting courses for local teenage track and field athletes.


Neil is a Level 4 strength and conditioning coach with a specialist qualification in training youth athletes. He has over 10 years experience in this role. Neil is also a qualified Athletics coach who works with England athletics and works with both endurance and track and field athletes. In his own time Neil is an experienced ultra runner who once ran from coast to coast (180 miles) in 3 days.


Both Sam and Neil hold up to date DBS checks as well as insurance for delivering coaching sessions in the gym environment.
