YOGA DETOX PROGRAMME (IN STUDIO ONLY)

This course has been cancelled
MANY of us are tempted to deprive our bodies after the festive season. This deprivation seems to stem from an idea that we are not entitled to enjoy ourselves and therefore require deprivation in order to detox and replenish.
In fact our bodies are constantly detoxing (that’s what the liver does and has done long before juice diets, potions and powders were invented!).

Instead yoga invites you to do the opposite: nourish yourself and your body. Give to your body, mind and soul.

The six-week programme will guide your through an ancient form of yoga. It will teach you a set sequence of asanas (postures) that are followed in a sequential order to promote a process of releasing the body, supporting the bodies own internal organs by stimulating them through the breath and physical practise whilst removing stiffness, toning and gaining strength.
This practise also synchronously detoxifies/cleanses the mind, with result being the ability to focus the mind, allowing access, to become the observer of the patterns of our emotional and psychological self. Thus holistically nourishing ourselves.

It is a practise that is aimed at transforming preconditioned patterns of thought and behaviour to free the mind. The course will be aimed at teaching the asanas (postures) through breath practise and promoting the engagement of dristi (looking place) to enable the focus to remain inward.

The workshop will be an opportunity to engage in the breath to movement inward focused practise via what is known as “the counted method”.
This method is based on the principle that every asana has a number of choreographed breath movements into and out of, each to be counted and meditated on. This could be considered as a mantra, for it is the recitation of a mantra that can quickly cut through the constant turning and churning of the inner chatter of the ordinary thinking mind .

Each week will have a different focus. You will be taught the breath practise, asana and its link with dristi and then we aim to offer you information on different aspects of ayeverdic nourishment and skin care that you can then take away and practise between sessions.

In a nutshell the workshop will be an opportunity to experience the counted method to flow in and out of asanas maintaining a steady breath and achieving a steady mind whilst this yoga practise nourishes from the inside out we will link this with information on how to nourish yourself from the outside in.

This workshop will be an opportunity to consider how to take what you learn in class to home. How to incorporate principles and practises into your every day life.

Diet’s are often short lived , not sustainable and never really give us what they sell (hence why the industry is a multi billion industry – they never really work!). Whereas this approach is about learning a way of nourishing yourself for life.

Say no to diets and deprivation and yes to Yoga nourishment!
