Ever found yourself at the top of the stairs wondering what you’ve gone up for?

We often find ourselves rushing from one place to the next, ticking off one job and adding on three, flitting from one thought to another. Do you crave some time to sit and just ‘be’ in the here and now?

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is something we all naturally possess but when we practice it becomes more readily available to us.

Whenever you bring awareness to what you’re experiencing through your senses, or to your state of mind via your thoughts and emotions, you’re being mindful. We can often live our lives on “auto-pilot” and react habitually to situations in unhelpful ways. Mindfulness allows us to be more flexible in our response to the stresses of life, to be less driven and distressed by our thoughts and emotions, and to appreciate each moment of life more fully. And there’s growing research showing that when you train your brain to be mindful, you’re actually remodelling the physical structure of your brain.

During this three week taster, we’ll learn techniques for relaxing the body, calming the mind and living more fully in the present moment. The sessions will also involve some gentle stretching, self-massage and hopefully a bit of a giggle.

So if you’d like to take some time for yourself over these next three weeks, with an open mind and a kind heart, then come along!
