6-Week Intro to Burlesque (level 1&2)

Dive into the glittering world of burlesque with House of Royale at Sunset Studios!

In the grand scheme of the burlesque industry, levels such as 'beginner' or 'intermediate' don't mean an awful lot. Here we use these levels to let you know who can attend a class and what to expect.

Beginner 1 = total newbie, never taken a burlesque lesson.

Beginner 2 = still a beginner, but may have taken some previous lessons or even performed on stage.

What is it?
•Learn about the history of burlesque, the diversity within this industry, and the different avenues you can take
•Bump & grind your way through 'burlesque staples' including robe reveals, striptease (no nudity!), chair dance, and tantalising your audience.
•Find your own style of burlesque - find what works for you and your body.
•There is no performance at the end of this course (but there will be the opportunity to perform in 2025 if you wish to!)
 

Who can attend?
No previous experience necessary.
Never danced before? No problem.
Two left feet? We'll show you how to move them!

Our classes are open to everyone over the age of 18.

What to wear
We recommend wearing whatever makes you feel badass.
Whether you want to dress up Moulin Rouge style, wear your gym leggings, or something in between, it's all welcome here.
Small dance heels are welcome/recommended but absolutely not compulsory.
Don't forget to bring a bottle of water!
You will need to bring a robe to remove. This could be a dressing gown, a wrap dress, a silky robe, or whatever you can find to remove!
Please note that this class does not involve nudity.
