Gin Yin with Jamie Rylett, Yoga Evolved

This course has been cancelled
Many of us lead fast-paced, demanding and intensely stressful life-styles. Gin Yin combines two of the great ways to relax, Yin Yoga and high quality gin! A restorative Yin workshop with a touch of gin to help slow things down, relax and unwind.

In this workshop, we will look at a number of classic Yin poses designed to help to open up the body and calm the mind, alleviating anxiety and reducing stress. Yin Yoga offers deeper access to the body targeting connective tissue, fascia and ligaments with the aim of lubricating and protecting the joints. In order to target these Yin tissues we must first learn to relax the surrounding muscles. A small amount of alcohol may help to facilitate a sense of calm, in turn this may help you to achieve the physiological state required to relax more into the poses and achieve the maximum benefit from the practice. You will leave this workshop feeling grounded and revitalised and maybe with a new appreciation for gin!

You will be invited to have a measure of gin before class, 90 minutes of yin, followed by a post class gin and tonic and chat with your fellow yogis.

Intro price just £20 per person

PLEASE NOTE: It is not compulsory to consume gin to be able to take part in the workshop. You will still benefit from this without the aid of alcohol!

About Jamie Rylett:
A lifelong martial artist, Jamie discovered yoga as the perfect vehicle for correcting imbalances within the body caused by years of Brazilian JiuJitsu training and competition. He quickly realised that the benefits of yoga practice went way beyond the physical and that regular practice brought with it a unique feeling of calmness that carried over into his daily life.

Wishing to explore this ancient art further at its source, Jamie set off for India to complete his 200hr multi-style TTC. It was during this time that he discovered Yin yoga and became inspired by the work of Paul Grilley. Immediately upon returning to London he bought every Yin book he could find, then returned to India to complete a 50hr Yin TTC with Maheshwara Manfred Lehner and Shakti Simone Lehner, both of whom are certified teachers under Paul Grilley. After staying in India to teach for Lotus Yoga, Jamie returned to London to complete an additional Yin and Yang 50hr TTC.

Having taught at some of London's top studios, Jamie is now working hard to spread the yoga gospel making yoga accessible to everyone, regardless of age, experience or fitness level. Forever a student, Jamie recently completed a six month mentorship programme with Norman Blair, and continues to work on expanding his knowledge and improving his practice. This year Jamie begins his 300hr advanced training under the guidance of Jason Crandell.

Having run his own classes in London and a retreat in Goa, Jamie is now working to bring yogi's of all backgrounds together with his Yoga Evolved Festivals and Gin Yin workshops, with the aim of building a strong, inclusive and welcoming yoga community.
