WORKSHOP: Stilts Movement and Acrobatics

Prerequisites include

  • walking well and with ease

  • have your own peg stilts and kneepads*, no jumping or drywall stilts

*if you do not have your own, this can be arranged with Wise Fool prior to the workshop, please arrive 30 minutes early. 

In this workshop, we will work on standing skills and drills and how to get to the ground and back up again. We will touch on the vast ground vocabulary including inversions like head and shoulder stands, and the progression to handstands as well as rolls and stunning shapes. We will explore stilted partner acro both on ground and on stilts. 

NIKO  CIFUENTES

Niko is a seasoned performer with almost 30 years in physical theatre, specializing in acrobatic stilts and juggling. He directed the renowned Colombian company Nemcatacoa Teatro for nearly two decades, creating captivating performances recognized by National Geographic and the New York Times, and winning the Best Performance of Latin America in 2013.

Gina Marie Shorten is a dynamic performer blending dance and circus arts. With a strong diversified foundation in traditional and experimental forms of movement, her choreography merges emotive storytelling with technical precision. Her life’s mission is to inspire people to feel, to find their passion and express themselves through the transformative powers of movement and expression.
